Kaleidoscope

Life is at its end
And death at its beginning
What once was,
Now is not.
What was once, but a bud.
Now withered to give way,
To a new day.
And the night is now dawn;
And dusk sets in again.
A rejoiced life is now gone.
And a glorious death has to but come.
The eagle flies above,
While its prey lies below.
Each waiting for its fate.
And on towards the pearly gates!
Age has set in,
In buildings and people
No cosmetic surgeries
Or new beginnings
The heights of glory
Now tells a sad story
Ages bygone
Now standing in the ruins.
The cat strays on to the road,
While the dog has his say.
The caterpillar moves on,
And becomes the butterfly
Eaten by the owl
Who was on the prowl
While the humans glide on
Merely existing on this plane
Using and abusing
But like all on this earth
All waiting for the end
For the circle to complete itself
Each end a new beginning
And each beginning must but end
Joy of death and sorrow of life
Each a must
In this kaleidoscope called life.
